privacy policy

Summary

The amie network has a strict privacy policy for the safety of its members. We carefully guard the personal and contact information of members. Because we cannot monitor all contact between members of the amie network, parents or guardians of members must assume responsibility for the safety of members in their charge. The leadership of the amie network cannot assume any liability.

Full Policy

  1. The amie network does not share personal information without express written permission. The network does NOT share information in any of the following ways:
    1. The amie network does NOT distribute a member listing or directory to network members or any other party.
    2. The amie network does NOT transmit personal information of members electronically (through e-mail, the amie network website, or the Internet.)
    3. The amie network does NOT keep a listing of members and contact information online.
    4. The amie network does NOT sell, trade, or give any contact information for advertising purposes.
  2. The amie network ONLY gives personal information in the following three cases and ONLY with express written permission:
    1. When a member requests a penpal, we match that member with one other member, and send personal information to the matching member. Penpals are granted:
      1. Only to current members of the amie network.
      2. Only via the official amie network penpal request form.
      3. Only with the permission and signature of the parent or guardian of the requesting member.
    2. When the editor publishes a submission from a member in the amie newsletter and the member requests in writing that her e-mail address be included with her submission, the editors print the member's e-mail address in the newsletter, which is distributed only to current members of the amie network.
    3. The amie network prints information in the amie profile column as disclosed by the featured member within the amie profile interview sheet. Participation in the amie profile is completely optional and any information disclosed is at the discretion of the member.

The amie network accepts members and assigns penpals in good faith. The leadership of the network cannot personally verify the identity and suitability of every member. The parents or guardians of each member must accept responsibility for the safety of that member in any contact she has with other members of the amie network, whether electronically, by mail, or in person. The amie network strongly encourages parents or guardians to monitor all contact the member in their charge has with other members of the amie network.

The director of the amie network has never been made aware of a safety or security issue in the duration of the existence of the amie network. On the contrary, the amie network has facilitated cherished friendships and encouragement between its members!
