Peter knew the importance of right thinking; but following Christ means living, not just contemplation. We have to realize that we are in a battle, and we must know how to use the weapons we have at our disposal.
We are to be different from the world in motivation, action, and goal. People should be able to tell by our actions, not just our words or by our going to church.
A major problem has been the lives of believers, who have often equated holiness with church life and been ungodly in their lives. It is also unattractive to someone seeking the secular lifestyle.
The fact that God is holy. We should seek to be like him.
In great measure, holiness shows up in how we treat others. First Peter is a good description of what holiness means in practical terms
