Exploring Georgia

Exploring Georgia Curriculum by Ray and Charlene NotgrassAbout the Curriculum

Exploring Georgia is a fun and fascinating look at the story of the Peach State. This curriculum will help you deepen your appreciation for the state with these two volumes:

  • The Story of Georgia by Ray Notgrass contains 75 lessons divided into fifteen units of five lessons each. These lessons survey the history of the state from the Native Americans to the 21st century. They also provide information on the government, culture, and people of Georgia. Also included are suggested enrichment activities such as field trips, writing assignments, and crafts. The Second Edition is updated with full color illustrations.

  • The Student Workbook by Charlene Notgrass provides dozens of learning activities to reinforce the history lessons. It contains creative writing, coloring, map studies, drawing, grammar activities, matching, word scrambles, secret codes, and Bible study. The only supplies needed to complete the activities are The Story of Georgia history text, a pencil, colored pencils, and a Bible.

Enjoy Exploring Georgia at your own pace. You can read one lesson per day (five lessons per week) from The Story of Georgia, and then complete the worksheets that go along with that lesson. At this pace, you can complete the material in one semester. Or, you may want to read only two or three lessons per week and spread the activities out over a two week period. Children of all ages can enjoy studying the material together with their parents. We designed it especially for students age 10 and up.

  • 75 lessons on the history, culture, geography, politics, and economy of the state.
  • Handwork sheets and student activities to reinforce the lessons.
  • Bible quotations and Bible lessons that give a spiritual perspective on the state's history.

(We no longer publish a printed Field Trip Guide, but you can access a PDF version of the guide here.)
