In His Hands

In that distant time before the beginning,
Before the world on its pillars stood,
Within the mind of God was formed
A mighty plan to bring us good.

Throughout the span of human time,
He sits enthroned in majesty
Weaving together historic strands
Into one great tapestry.

As Lord of heaven and Lord of earth,
God gives life to all creation.
From one man he made every man;
He set times and places for every nation.

He raises up the kings and princes,
Rulers with their golden crowns,
And as he chooses in his wisdom
With righteous judgment brings them down.

What he has said, that he will do;
His purposes will firmly stand.
As a potter molds a lump of clay,
So God shapes our world with his hand.

In the past, God spoke through prophets
At many times, in many ways,
But now we have another one
Who spoke to us in the last days.

For when the time had fully come,
All preparations had been made,
God sent his one and only Son -
The greatest price, he freely paid.

He suffered, died, and rose again,
According to the plan divine,
And now he sits at God's right hand,
Reigning as Savior of all mankind.

Tell of his power, tell of his deeds,
To your children and then to theirs
That they may know his story, too,
and with you become fellow heirs.

Oh, the depth of the riches
of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable his judgments,
and his paths beyond tracing out!
Who has known the mind of the Lord,
or who has been his counselor?
Who has ever given to God,
that God should repay him?
For from him and through him
and to him are all things.
To him be the glory unto the ages.
Amen.
